THE VALLEY OF VARA (VAL DI VARA):
From Vernazza is quite simple to reach
the Valley of Vara by mountain bike or
walking, following the white-red marked
foot-pathes called “alta via
cinque
terre”, where you can visit several
villages such as Riccò del golfo,
Pignone and
Beverino.
From the flat is reachable (at one hour
driving), the heart of the Valley known
as "the Valley of the Round Villages",
with a mosaic of small villages,
situated on mountain tops, reflects in
the clear waters of rivers and streams
that cross the luxuriant valley, a green
oasis rich of historical and artistic
evidences such as churches and castles.
The rural activities are still today a
link joining the inhabitants with their
land which is famous for its typical and
organic products. Nature is not only to
taste but also to experience through all
types of excursions, from horse trekking
to mountain-bike rides, from bird
watching to canoeing.
THE GULF OF THE POETS (GOLFO DEI POETI):
From the port of Vernazza there is the
possibility of tourist trips on their
boats along the incredible west ligurian
coastline. The Gulf of the Poets is
located between, Lerici and
Portovenere.
Lerici, "The pearl of the poet's Gulf"
located in the extreme eastern part of
the Ligurian Region, greets you with a
view dear to poets and writers: the
splendid hills studded with hamlets and
villas, and a sea of a thousand faces
ideal for a vacation and water sports.
Portovenere is situated in the most
western part of the Gulf of
La Spezia with its three facing islands of
Palmaria,
Tino and
Tinetto and it is
considered one of the most suggestive
villages of La
Spezia's coast-line.
A beautiful majestic XII century castle
still exists and important exhibitions
still take place. There is a suggestive
and incomparable corner represented by
the Byron Cave, hollowed out in the
harsh rocks of the shore that conduct to
the Cinque Terre. The cave is dedicated
to the famous nineteenth century English
poet. |
